In 1886 one of the firts shoe factories in Hauenstein was founded by Carl-August Seibel. At that time he produced shoes and sandals in his own house. In 1907 a new factory was built, which still produces shoes today.

Throughout the years business continued to grow. The recessin of the 70`s hit Europe hard and it meant Josef Seibel had to be smart. they took steps to introduce new ideas and developments which allowed Josef Seibel to avert the difficult times. Towards the end of the 1980's new production facilities, offices and warehouses were built in Hauenstein, Hungary and Romania allowing them to facilitate their growth.

In 2005 Josef Seibel took Romika Shoes from insolvency to a flourishing company within the Josef Seibel Group (Romika Shoes GmbH).

Today Josef Seibel continues to develop innovative products for the consumer using the latest technology and know-how.
